August 5, 2017 – Kingston, NY
The White Sabers secured their first Kingston win in the DCA Open class this weekend with an 86.30, edging out the Fusion Core by 2.3 points.
“It’s still absolutely surreal to see how far this group has come so quickly!” says first year front ensemble instructor, Zach Hanford.
The White Sabers earned first place in Brass, Percussion, Music Ensemble, Visual Effect, and Music Effect. High colorguard comfortably went to the Fusion Core for the second weekend in a row, and the Hawthorne Caballeros took high Visual Ensemble.
The corps members and staff alike share a growing excitement for the 2017 season. “I have been a White Saber for 10 years. I saw our potential back then, and its so amazing to see it come to fruition now. I am so proud to put on the uniform!” says Becky Fox, mellophone.
Stephanie Waugh, veteran colorguard caption head, states, “The White Sabers continue to impress me every weekend and it is a constant reminder of why I devote so much time and energy to this group and this activity. If someone had told me 6 years ago when I started that we would be where we are today, I wouldn’t have believed them. The membership and staff this year is among the best group of people that I’ve ever worked with.”
